While Americans everywhere are affected by the influx of illegal aliens, it is especially pressing in areas near the southern border.

And these illegals are coming into cities and towns where people never expected them to.

Now people living in this California city just started to do something completely unexpected once the illegal alien population exploded in their town, and the Biden administration didn’t see it coming.

Californians buy firearms for protection during the illegal alien crisis

El Cajon is a Southern California suburb with approximately 105,000 people, and it has recently witnessed a massive influx of illegal alien activity.

Approximately 125,000 illegal aliens have been released onto the streets throughout the San Diego area since September, prompting many people living in the area to buy firearms for self-protection.

Many of the people buying guns at Firearms Unlimited California say they’re worried about the massive influx of illegal aliens being released onto the streets.

One customer named Keith said, “My wife and I have had home defense guns for many years. Recently, though, with all the stuff that’s happening south of the border and all the people coming over, my concerns have broadened.”

“I don’t think it’s just the people that are coming over to try to find work, I think we have a lot of hostile people that are coming over with ill will, ill intent that will potentially cause chaos,” he added.

Keith told a New York Post reporter that his entire family is now armed as he shopped amidst the packed crowd at the small gun store located northeast of San Diego.

Once Texas began securing its border with Mexico more aggressively, illegal aliens decided to turn their attention to California instead.

Border Patrol saw an average of 1,200 illegals cross every day into the San Diego region just during the week ending on February 4 alone.

According to government data obtained by CBS News, some of the busiest areas in Texas averaged just hundreds of illegal alien crossings during the same period.

Firearms Unlimited California owner Cory Gautereaux said, “The problem for people that live around the gun store is the street drop-offs. That’s driven business to us.”

Gautereaux noted that the US Border Patrol has started to bus illegal aliens who claim asylum into the community, releasing them onto the streets.

The area can’t handle the huge numbers

Keith’s son, Anthony Carnevale, joined his father to buy his own gun, and he said the area simply can’t handle the massive numbers of illegal aliens street released.

“I don’t think it’s just a matter of the numbers of undocumented people, I think a lot of people are concerned about the state of our own government to be just allowing this and why,” said Anthony.

Another local named Sharie Finn told The Post that the issue at the border “1,000%” plays a role in her decision to buy a gun as she pointed to her Glock pistol, saying, “I have that with me everywhere I go.”

It’s not just the residents who are concerned about the increasing number of illegal aliens.

El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells agreed that the residents in his town don’t feel safe because of the issue: “We see the massive amounts of violence that’s happening, a lot from the immigrant situation, but a lot from the homeless situation as well. People are frightened, and I do believe they’re arming themselves more.”
