Your mom probably warned you years ago not to listen in on other people’s conversations.

And when you don’t mind your own business, there can be problems.

Well, this Florida man started giggling when he overheard this conversation and was forced to run for his life from this knife-wielding maniac.

Stay in your lane

There is a current saying in the business world that says, “stay in your lane,” meaning don’t butt into other areas of the business that aren’t in your wheelhouse.

The Greek Stoic philosopher Epictetus put it this way, “keep your attention focused entirely on what is truly your own concern and be clear that what belongs to others is their business and none of yours.”

And country music legend Hank Williams Jr. said that, “if you mind your own business, you’ll stay busy all the time.”

The Classical Greek philosopher Plato declared that, “justice means minding one’s own business and not meddling with other men’s concerns.”

Unfortunately, one Florida man just found out the hard way that not following this advice can indeed be dangerous.

Robert Allen Biser, 43, recently had a heated argument with his girlfriend, 33-year-old Desiree Natasha Downer.

A man walking down the street overheard the argument and giggled loud enough that Biser heard him.

And that giggle sent Biser into an uncontrollable fit of rage.

According to the police report about the incident, Biser was “upset” at the giggling and “began calling him racial slurs” before threatening to “stick him like a pig.”

A slap in the face

Biser’s girlfriend also did not appreciate the man’s giggles and slapped him across the face.

“The victim reported to police that the incident began around 8:30 p.m. when Biser became enraged by the giggle, hurled racial slurs, and threatened violence,” Newsradio WFLA reported. “Downer then allegedly slapped the victim, prompting the victim to flee for his safety.”

Even though the man ran away from the couple, they chased him down the street with a “silver object” in Biser’s hand.

Fortunately, the victim escaped the couple and was able to call 911.

Once police arrived on the scene, the couple gave conflicting accounts of the incident to the officers.

“Deputies said Biser claimed the victim had been bothering him and came up to him with the knife and ‘randomly attacked him,’” Local10 reported. “He claimed, they said, that the victim dropped the knife after Downer stood up, leading Biser to pick it up and chase after him.”

However, a witness to the incident informed the officers that Biser had asked him to borrow a knife only 45 minutes before the incident took place.

The officers took Biser and Downer into custody.

Biser was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

But Downer resisted arrest and was found to have a crack pipe in her possession.

The officers charged her with misdemeanor charges of battery, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Next time, the victim might think twice before giggling over an argument that had nothing to do with him.
