Woke Disney is laying off animators because audiences are staying away in droves, but Iger is still in denial

The Disney companies have been around for 100 years and enjoyed great public support for their family friendly content. Until recently.

But some in upper management felt that pushing a woke political agenda was more important than protecting its own brand.

And this once beloved animation studio is having to make this dramatic shift because their woke agenda is flopping at the box office but Disney’s President is still in denial.

Pixar laying off 14 percent of its workforce

The once-beloved Pixar Animation Studios is now laying off approximately 175 people, or around 14 percent of its total staff.

According to a Deadline report, the layoffs are largely due to Disney+ reducing the number of series it is putting out.

Some earlier estimates had the layoffs closer to 20 percent of Pixar staff.

The new job cuts come as Pixar previously laid off 75 jobs earlier this year, including two executives behind the box office flop, Lightyear.

One major reason for the flop is that Pixar chose to replace conservative Tim Allen, who has played Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story for over two decades, with woke Marvel star Chris Evans.

The movie was also ineligible for release in 14 Middle Eastern and Asian countries because it featured LGBTQ+ content.

Meanwhile, Disney CEO Bob Iger acknowledged the company massively overspent on its streaming content to get more people to subscribe to Disney+ and its other services.

That decision caused the company to lose billions of dollars in revenue.

“As we got into the streaming business in a very, very aggressive way, we tried to tell too many stories. Basically, we invested too much, way ahead of possible returns. It’s what led to streaming ending up as a $4 billion loss,” Iger said on a recent earnings call.

He added again, “We tried to tell too many stories.”

However, some would argue that it’s not telling too many stories that is the problem, but rather, that the stories contain a plethora of woke content.

Pixar opted to embrace woke content with titles like Lightyear and Elemental, both of which bombed at the box office.

Woke content equals lost revenue and jobs

The Pixar film Elemental featured a gender “non-binary” character that used “they/them” pronouns, and Disney kept this component of the storyline hidden from the public until the movie was released.

But according to Iger, the $4 billion loss isn’t related to the company’s woke content which now often includes a smattering of gay propaganda and left-wing talking points.

Instead of focusing on material that focuses on universal themes like magic and adventure that kids and adults alike appreciate, Disney chose to go woke and alienate its largest customer base.

Many of its newer releases contain extremely inappropriate displays of adult sexuality, drag queens, and environmental propaganda.

Disney has recently laid off approximately 7,000 workers globally, or just over 3 percent of the company’s total headcount.

Earlier this year, Iger said more budget cuts were on the way as the company tries to pull itself out of a sinking hole.
