You have one last chance to watch this Eddie Murphy classic on Netflix

Netflix began as a DVD rental company, offering customers all the classic hit movies they could watch for one affordable price.

But the streaming giant has long-since switched business models, and it now seems the massive corporation’s motto is, “out with the old, in with the new.”

Because now Netflix is bringing in a new original Eddie Murphy movie – but is giving this old-school Murphy favorite the ax in order to make room.

In with the new – Axel F

Everyone’s favorite wise-cracking California cop – originally from Detroit – is coming back for the next installment in his franchise.

Eddie Murphy dons the badge for his iconic Axel Foley role in a brand-new Beverly Hills Cop movie.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will be exclusively streaming on Netflix starting July 3.

This marks the first new movie in the franchise since Beverly Hills Cop III, 30 long years ago.

Along with Murphy, Judge Reinhold (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Vice-Versa), Paul Reiser (Mad About You, My Two Dads), Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers, Risky Business) and John Ashton (Midnight Run, Gone Baby Gone) all are reprising their old characters.

Joining the cast for this new installment are Joseph Gordon-Levitt (3rd Rock from the Sun, 10 Things I Hate About You) and Kyra Sedgwick’s woke husband, Kevin Bacon.

But if you’re considering a Beverly Hills Cop marathon to whet the appetite for the Axel F – don’t pin your hopes on Netflix.

Out with the old – Beverly Hills Cop

Unfortunately, Beverly Hills Cop II and Beverly Hills Cop III are not currently available on Netflix.

However, the 1984 original film that launched the franchise is located on the streaming giant.

But not for much longer.

If you’re hoping to watch Eddie Murphy in his hay day driving the men of the Beverly Hills Police Department crazy while he hunts down the murderer of his childhood best friend, you better act fast.

June 20 is the last day Beverly Hills Cop will be available to stream on Netflix.

Ideally, with a major release of big-time original movie like Beverly Hills: Axel F, viewers would be able to binge all the movies in the franchise on the same streaming platform.

But apparently Netflix was not able to bring the collection together so that will not be an option.

Beverly Hills Cop is far from the only piece of content leaving Netflix in June.

Dozens of movies and shows are on their way out of the streaming service this month.

Some other classics looking for a new home sometime in June include: LA Confidential, Happy Gilmore, the complete Hunger Games franchise, The Other Guys, Bullet Train, Clint Eastwood’s The Mule, and NCIS seasons 1-11.
