Alex Vindman just lost a Senate primary to a democratic socialist in his own party.
Florida Democrats decided they wanted someone even further left than him.
Now Trump is calling for the man who once testified against him to be prosecuted.
The Impeachment Star Who Could Not Even Win His Own Primary
Alexander Vindman became a household name in 2019 testifying against Trump in the first impeachment inquiry, and he spent the years since cashing in that fame with book deals, cable hits, and a Senate run in Florida.
He lost.
Not to a Republican.
Not in the general election.
He lost the Democratic primary itself, and he lost it to state Representative Angie Nixon, a democratic socialist who ran on abolishing ICE and granting what Breitbart described as swift amnesty, according to results confirmed by CNN, NBC News, and the Washington Post.
Trump did not hold back once the results came in.
He posted on Truth Social calling Vindman a real "treasonous creep" who suffered the "most gratifying loss" of election night, according to Just the News and the Washington Examiner.
He went further and called for Vindman to be prosecuted, not just mocked.
Five years of media adulation for testifying against a sitting president bought Vindman exactly one thing: a losing primary campaign against a socialist Florida Democrats liked better than him.
Resistance Heroes Keep Losing Because Voters Moved Past Them
Vindman is not an isolated case, and that's the real story here.
The Washington Examiner ran a piece this cycle titled "Resistance Libs Fail to Turn Anti-Trump Fame Into Electoral Success," tracking how nearly every prominent impeachment-era figure who tried converting media fame into a political career has flopped at the ballot box.
The pattern repeats because the fame was never actually about Vindman.
It was about a moment in a news cycle that Democratic primary voters have already moved past.
Florida Democrats did not want a retired lieutenant colonel who spent five years doing green room interviews about January 2019.
They wanted someone who sounded angrier and further left right now, and Nixon gave them exactly that with an open-borders platform built around abolishing the agency that deports criminals.
Vindman's entire brand was proximity to the Trump fight from half a decade ago.
Nixon's brand is fighting Trump today, on camera, with a platform Vindman never matched.
What This Loss Actually Signals for November
Democrats in Florida just nominated a democratic socialist to face Attorney General Ashley Moody in a state Trump carried twice.
Axios called it a socialist breakthrough, and that is not a compliment considering the district Nixon now has to win statewide against a sitting Republican attorney general with a law enforcement record.
Vindman's loss proves the impeachment credential expired.
Nixon's win proves the party base is still racing toward its most radical wing, not away from it, even in a state Republicans have carried in back to back presidential elections.
Moody now gets to run a general election against an ICE-abolition platform in a state full of voters who watched the border crisis unfold under Biden for four straight years.
That is not the matchup national Democrats wanted heading into a competitive Senate race.
It is the matchup their own primary voters just handed them anyway.
Vindman bet his political future on being the impeachment guy forever.
Florida Democrats just proved that bet stopped paying out.
