Americans are demanding criminals be held accountable for their crimes, but liberal lawyers are making it impossible.

Woke attorneys are filing lawsuit after lawsuit to get their clients off the hook.

Now they have just filed a lawsuit on behalf of an illegal alien who is accused of killing a cop, and it will make your blood boil.

Illegal alien files civil rights lawsuit after killing cop

A 19-year-old illegal alien named Virgilio Aguilar-Mendez was arrested in May 2023 after being charged with resisting an officer with violence and manslaughter.

Aguilar-Mendez, from Guatemala, was charged for being connected with the death of St. Johns County, Florida sheriff’s office Sgt. Michael Kunovich.

Now, the illegal alien and his defense attorneys have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit, claiming that his limited ability to speak and understand Spanish and English is enough to consider him disabled.

He first arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2023 and was later released into the United States, where he worked on a farm to send money back to his native country.

Aguilar-Mendez’s defense attorneys filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Kunovich’s estate, Lt. Jose Jimenez (who also responded to the initial incident) and St. Johns County.

The attorneys claim that the illegal alien is disabled because he doesn’t speak English or Spanish; and therefore, he was denied his rights under the “Americans with Disabilities Act” and the “Rehabilitation Act.”

According to the filing, Aguilar-Mendez’s native language is Mam, not English or Spanish.

“His limited understanding of English and Spanish is his disability, and he was denied an interpreter at the scene and at the Sheriff’s Office to allow him to understand his Miranda rights before Jimenez interrogated him,” the filing reads.

The lawsuit notes that Jimenez questioned Aguilar-Mendez in Spanish, which is referenced in the arrest documents.

However, it also adds that Mam “translates into other languages, such as Spanish or English, can take on a different structure.”

Attorneys for Aguilar-Mendez claim that he is a victim of police brutality and racism, pointing the finger at Kunovich.

His attorney said, “Mr. Virgillo was a victim of police brutality. He was a victim of racial profiling. He was a victim of violation of his fourth, fifth, and sixth amendment constitutional rights. Those who are responsible for this abuse will be held accountable.”

Police tell a different story

While Aguilar-Mendez’s defense attorneys claim racism and brutality, police in St. Johns County tell a different story.

On May 19, Kunovich lawfully attempted to pat down the illegal alien while he was sitting outside of a closed business.

Instead of complying, the suspect tried to flee.

Aguilar-Mendez started resisting when other officers got involved until Kunovich was in a struggle with him as he tried to grab his taser.

Later, Aguilar-Mendez was handcuffed but pulled out a pocket knife, resulting in a struggle that caused Kunovich to collapse and fall on the ground.

First responders administered lifesaving measures, but unfortunately, the police officer was pronounced dead after arriving at a nearby hospital.
