The place where Joe Biden stored his classified documents is suddenly getting more money from China

The University of Pennsylvania’s ties to China have long been scrutinized, and recent data reveals it might be worse than people realized.

The university is home to President Biden’s Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, which you might remember is where the FBI retrieved classified documents that then Vice President Biden took from the White House.

Americans are now expressing deep concerns, seeing this surge as a blatant sign of Chinese communist influence infiltrating the very heart of American academia.

The Penn Biden Center’s Washington, D.C. office was previously under investigation for possessing confidential documents.

Now, new records obtained by Americans for Public Trust (APT) reveal that Chinese donations to the university skyrocketed from $8.6 million in mid-2021 to mid-2022 to a staggering $25 million in the subsequent reporting period.

This surge, totaling nearly $130 million between mid-2018 and mid-2023, has raised serious questions about the potential influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on American education.

Caitlin Sutherland, APT’s executive director, argues that this surge in donations is a glaring indication of American institutions succumbing to foreign influence under the Biden Administration.

Sutherland warned Fox News Digital, “The tripling of Chinese donations to the University of Pennsylvania, home to Biden’s think tank, should raise serious alarms among lawmakers who are interested in curbing the growing power of the Chinese Communist Party.”

The records obtained by APT reveal not only the financial windfall but also, connections between donors and the CCP.

One such donor, Rock Chen Chung-nin, a Hong Kong deputy to the National People’s Congress and a member of the National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), contributed $205,000 between mid-2022 and mid-2023.

The CPPCC, a key mechanism under the CCP, raises concerns about the university’s potential entanglement with Chinese political influences.

Another major donor, Kathy Xu of Capital Today, donated at least $10 million in December 2022.

Xu’s ties to Meituan Dianping, an internet company with deep CCP connections, and her meeting with a CPPCC member in 2023 further underscore the intertwining of university funds with CCP-linked individuals.

In July 2022, RemeGen Co., Ltd., a Chinese biopharmaceutical company, paid $170,550 to the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Jianmin Fang, the executive director and CEO of RemeGen, has CCP ties, having been recognized as a “National Distinguished Expert” by the organization department of the Central Committee of the CCP.

Weidong Wang, the executive director and chairman of the RemeGen board, also has CCP connections, serving as the “deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress since 2023,” according to his biography on his company site.

The concern among conservatives deepens as more CCP-linked individuals emerge among the university’s donors.

Chinese billionaire Ma Jianrong, CEO of Shenzhou International, donated at least $500,000 in 2022.

Known for his CCP membership, Jianrong’s donations to the university highlight a trend that raises questions about the institution’s autonomy.

President Biden’s affiliation with the University of Pennsylvania adds another layer to this complex web.

Hired as a professor in 2017, Biden’s speaking residency, characterized by his infrequent presence on campus, raises questions about the nature of his ties with the university.

While the university maintains its compliance with federal laws regarding foreign gifts, critics argue that the surge in Chinese donations necessitates a deeper investigation.

The allegations of foreign influence, especially with a prominent think tank named after the sitting President, are ringing alarm bells among conservative circles.

As the University of Pennsylvania becomes a focal point in the debate over foreign influence in American academia, conservatives are closely watching, demanding transparency and accountability in safeguarding the integrity of American institutions.

To make the situation more worrisome, last year, the FBI raided Biden’s “think tank” at the university and discovered boxes of classified documents which Biden took when he was Vice President.

The FBI never gave a full accounting of exactly what was in the boxes.

The surge of Chinese money into the halls of one of America’s prestigious universities raises a pivotal question: Is American education being compromised by foreign interests?
