The Secret Service has been exposed as a complete mess after Donald Trump’s shooting.
Americans are discovering how bad things really are at the embattled agency.
And Ted Cruz dropped one bombshell about the Secret Service that confirmed the worst.
Secret Service turned down extra security for Donald Trump for political reasons
Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe testified before a joint hearing of three Senate Committees about the near assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Rowe tried to duck responsibility and avoid answering questions, which led to fireworks during the hearing.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said the Secret Service made a “political decision” to deny Trump’s security detail additional resources during the hearing.
“Just after the shooting, Secret Service put out an official statement from your spokesperson that says there’s an untrue assertion that a member of the former President’s team requested additional security resources that those were rebuffed,” Cruz said.
Cruz asked Rowe if that statement was accurate.
“If you’re talking about Butler, Pennsylvania, all assets requested were approved,” Rowe replied. “If you’re talking about the media reporting of assets requested, there are times when assets were unavailable and not able to be filled, and those gaps were staffed with state and local law enforcement tactical assets.”
The Texas lawmaker read a story from the Washington Post that stated the Secret Service denied Trump additional resources.
“The opening paragraph — ‘Top officials tell us, Secret Service repeatedly denied requests for additional resources and personnel sought by Donald Trump security detail in the two years leading up to his attempted assassination, according to four people familiar with the requests,’” Cruz read.
Cruz asked if The Post’s story was true and Rowe claimed it wasn’t.
Ted Cruz traps acting Secret Service director
Rowe admitted that he didn’t know how many requests Trump’s detail made for additional resources.
“You’ve had two weeks. You had a spokesperson put something out that is false on its face — by the way, did you approve this statement when it went out?” Cruz asked.
The active Secret Service director admitted that he didn’t know who approved the statement.
Cruz tried to determine who made the decision to reject the additional resources for Trump.
“The process is that a detail will make a request for either staffing, technical assets that is handled between the field office and the details to a logistics office between–” Rowe said when Cruz interrupted him.
“Is there a decision maker?” Cruz interjected.
“Senator, it’s a conversation. It’s not just an absolute ‘yea’ or ‘nay,’” Rowe replied.
Cruz had enough of the Acting Director’s games at this point.
“So let me tell you what I believe. I believe that the Secret Service leadership made a political decision to deny these requests, and I think the Biden administration has been suffused with partisan politics,” Cruz said.
Rowe claimed that politics has nothing to do with the Secret Service’s decision-making.
But many Americans believe the Secret Service put Donald Trump’s life in jeopardy through a series of eyebrow-raising decisions.
