Actor Mark Wahlberg has forged a versatile career in Hollywood.
He has worked in everything from comedy to drama to action.
And in his latest movie, he gets to live out every guy’s dream.
Wahlberg is starring alongside Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry in the upcoming Netflix film, The Union.
Wahlberg’s character is an average Joe who rekindles a romance with his high school sweetheart—played by Berry—who’s now working as a spy.
Wahlberg told Fox Digital, “Halle, her and I have known each other for such a long time, and this movie is going to be so great because it’s every guy’s fantasy, to think that they got a shot with Halle Berry.”
Wahlberg added that the movie is about getting second chances in life.
“They were childhood sweethearts, and they come back together,” Wahlberg continued. “He basically waited 25 years for her to come back, walk back through that door and into his life, and it happens, and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to prove himself to her if he got a second chance. For me, that was the whole motivation of the character: just do anything he could to not screw it up again.”
Wahlberg has been married to his wife Rhea Durham for 15 years, and he admitted that onscreen romances still get “a little weird.”
The Departed star said, “I think it’s a little weird anyway when you’re portraying some sort of romance onscreen, it’s not normal, but my wife knows that she is my everything. . .She is the most special woman in the world.”

Wahlberg is also one of many actors who have continued the trend of leaving Los Angeles for environs better suited for raising a family.
Wahlberg moved his family one state over to Las Vegas, Nevada.
He presumably did not want his four kids growing up in close proximity to the film industry.
Wahlberg posted pictures on social media of him going shopping with his daughter Ella in South Carolina, where she attends college at Clemson University.
He added, “Dad has only a few purposes in life, to do what they want when they want me to do it. And I don’t mind doing that, we had an amazing time down in Charleston. . .Only for her, her sister, her mom, will I go into a store like that.”
Wahlberg is also preparing for his role in the upcoming Mel Gibson-directed film Flight Risk.
He will play the villain in the movie, a role he does not play often.
Wahlberg plays a hitman who is flying an FBI informant to trial.
The star admitted, “I’m not interested in being a pilot. I don’t like flying at all, but I was very interested in playing a villain again. . .I hadn’t done that since Fear 30 years ago.”
The 1996 thriller Fear with Reese Witherspoon was Wahlberg’s breakout role in the business.
Wahlberg concluded, “To be able to go back there and play somebody who is [a villain]. . .it’s an amazing character. . .I think people are going to be shocked when they see the movie. It’s going to be a good one this summer.”
