Thomas Jefferson famously said, “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.”
That describes America’s current federal government bureaucracy to a tee.
Donald Trump is not playing around with his mission to slash burdensome regulations and government overreach.
That’s why he tapped Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) advisory committee in order to look for administrative bloat to eliminate.
The two will work with business leaders and legal advisors to trim the fat.
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Musk and Ramaswamy laid out their vision.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) would chair a new subcommittee to aid DOGE in its efforts.
Greene will lead the newly minted Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The DOGE Subcommittee will commence when the next Congressional session begins in January.
Greene said, “I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team . . . We will identify and investigate the waste, corruption, and absolutely useless parts of our federal government.”
Fighting administrative bloat on the GOP agenda
Trump said that DOGE had the potential to be a “Manhattan Project” for governmental reform.
Ramaswamy met with Comer and Greene about the new DOGE Subcommittee.
A spokesman for Ramaswamy told Fox News, “A key step to driving greater efficiency in government is exposing the problem to the public – we are grateful that the House Oversight Committee has created a subcommittee to focus on this work . . . We look forward to working together.”
DOGE and Greene are already raring to go.
Comer explained that Trump’s “landslide victory reflects a clear mandate to address inflationary spending that’s driving up the cost of living for hard-working Americans.”
“Wasteful government spending must end, and taxpayers deserve to see their money used effectively and efficiently,” Comer continued. “[DOGE] will align with the Trump administration’s priorities to eliminate government waste, streamline the federal government’s operations, and cut red tape that’s stifling jobs and increasing costs for the American people.”
Greene promised that nothing was off limits when it came to DOGE.
She explained, “No topic will be off the table . . . The goal of DOGE is to bring accountability and GUT useless government agencies.”
She added that DOGE would surely get rid of incompetent federal bureaucrats.
The Congresswoman stated, “The bureaucrats who don’t do their job, fail audits like in the Pentagon, and don’t know where billions of dollars are going, will be getting a pink slip . . . Chairman Comer and I are focused on delivering the mandate voters sent on November 5th, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
Conservatives have long talked about reducing the size and scope of the federal government.
DOGE could actually deliver on that pledge.
