They claimed that Kamala Harris ran a flawless campaign.
But Harris turned her back on one constituency and it came back to bite her on Election Night.
Catholics went to the polls for Donald Trump
Kamala Harris made it clear with her words and actions that she was not interested in the concerns of Christians.
She skipped the Al Smith Dinner in New York, a Catholic fundraiser where candidates from parties traditionally show up and crack jokes.
Harris instead decided to campaign in other parts of the country.
However, exit polls suggest that that was not prudent.
In light of Harris foregoing the event, former U.S. Ambassador Callista Gingrich dubbed Harris “the anti-Catholic candidate.”
Harris “declined the invitation to attend the Al Smith Dinner, the first presidential candidate to do so since Walter Mondale in 1984,” Gingrich declared. “Instead, she sent in a pre-recorded video message.”
Trump predicted in October that Harris had already “lost the Catholic vote.”
A Washington Post exit poll showed that Trump beat Harris by a 15 point-margin among Catholic voters across the country.
Trump ran up similar numbers in ten key battleground states.
A recent study by DigitalCommons noted that securing the Catholic vote even by a few points is often a good indicator of which candidate will win the White House.
Joe Biden, a Catholic himself, won the Catholic vote in 2020, even though his policies flew in the face of Catholic teachings.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, Catholic pro-life activists, including some Priests, were prosecuted and thrown in jail under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
His Justice Department even considered Catholics who attend the traditional Latin Mass as a domestic terrorism threat, and the FBI had a plan to embed agents in these churches.
Kamala Harris’ anti-Catholic attitude dates back to her tenure in the Senate when she grilled judicial nominees over membership in the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic charitable organization.
Trump made an effort to win over Catholic voters
Donald Trump picked Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), a Catholic, as his running mate.
He also gained the endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who is the nephew of America’s first Catholic President, John F. Kennedy.
CatholicVote.org President Brian Burch chimed in on Trump’s victory, explaining, “Catholic voters played a decisive role in the historic victory of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, with some exit polls suggesting Trump defeated Harris among Catholics by a 14 point margin.”
“These numbers are shocking,” Burch added, “and could prove to be the largest margin among Catholics in a presidential race in decades. Catholics proved again to be a critical voting bloc that cannot be ignored.”
CatholicVote.org played a role in Trump’s electoral victory, noting Harris’ extreme pro-abortion position, which included forcing Catholic hospitals and doctors to perform abortions against their beliefs.
Burch commented Harris was “sealing her fate by telling Christians they didn’t belong at her rallies, before declaring there would be no accommodations for people of faith on abortion.”
Catholic voters and other conservative pro-life Christians made their voices heard by handing Donald Trump an electoral mandate.
