Jay Leno used to be the king of late night television.
He gained that status by not being politically divisive.
And Leno stunned everyone when he made one comment about the 2024 Presidential election.

Jay Leno was the number one rated late night host in America for decades.
When Leno took over The Tonight Show from the iconic Johnny Carson in 1993, the purpose of these shows was still to tell jokes that poked fun at both sides and interview guests that appealed to a broad base.
Leno talked about how much has changed during an appearance on CBS’ daytime show The Talk.
“The nice thing about this election is, it was fair, it was honest,” Leno stated.
Leno revealed that he did not vote for Trump “but that’s okay. It’s the President of the United States – let’s all get together, thank you very much.”
Despite not voting for Trump, Leno still praised the election and hoped that unity could be achieved.
“Everybody says it was honest. I mean, it’s a great day for democracy,” Leno continued.
Some of Leno’s most memorable monologues were his takedowns of Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
However, today no late night host would have the guts to continually mock the sitting Democrat President.
Leno said that in his day, both sides took slings and arrows.
“Well, you know, it was different – in my day, you kind of made fun of both sides. You’d get angry letters from both sides. Now you kind of have to take a side and, yeah, it’s a little bit different,” Leno commented.
Night-and-day late night
Today’s late night shows pretty much just mirror the talking points of the DNC.
After Donald Trump’s, the late night hosts did not even both with jokes, opting for bizarre therapy sessions.
CBS late night host Stephen Colbert said that his show was a safe space for demoralized Democrats.
Colbert said during his monologue, “Hey there, how are you doing? If you watch this show regularly, I’m guessing you’re not doing great . . . Yeah, me neither.”
Colbert then insulted Trump and his supporters, namely half the country, as people who would have to be tolerated until 2028.
“Who knows what the next four years are going to be like,” he added. “What we do know is that we are going to be governed by a monstrous child surrounded by cowards and grifters.”
ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel went a step further and literally cried.

Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, and David Letterman were pillars of late night television.
Their shows were springboards for up-and-coming comics and avenues to learn about celebrities.
Now late night television is Democrat agitprop.
