Democrats looked dead in the water with Joe Biden at the top of the ticket.
But Kamala Harris is experiencing a moment now that the Democrats have a live candidate to support.
And James Carville offered one prediction that left Donald Trump in shock.
James Carville predicts a five-point win for Kamala Harris
The polls did a complete 180 since Joe Biden was strong-armed out of the 2024 Presidential race.
Trump held a durable lead and looked like he was cruising toward a landslide electoral college win where even deep blue states like Minnesota and New Jersey were within the margin of error.
However, now that Kamala Harris has been installed in the race and the media have showered her with millions of dollars in free advertising, Harris surged ahead of Trump.
Longtime Bill Clinton adviser James Carville acknowledged the new facts on the ground in an appearance on MSNBC’s The Beat.
Carville told host Ari Melber, “We’re looking at a different world today than we did 24 days ago. That’s pretty clear. They’re still trying to find their sea legs out there.”
Carville said that Republicans were still scrambling to define Harris after several GOP members of Congress failed with their attacks calling her a DEI hire.
“When you get down to the fact that the Speaker of the House, who’s from Benton, Louisiana, has to tell the other House Republicans to calm the racial stuff down, you know there’s trouble out there,” Carville continued.
Carville told Melber that he hates getting into the prediction business, but he thought there was a better chance Harris would win the popular vote by five points than Trump would win the election.
He added, “I hate to make predictions but I will say this right now, there’s a better chance that Harris wins by five than Trump wins by one and a half.”
But there’s a catch, says Carville
Carville tried to pump the brakes on what former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod called the “irrational exuberance” behind Harris’ campaign of “joy.”
Carville said, “So that’s not, that comes at a caveat. I’m not saying she’s going to win by five or he’s going to win by one and a half but that I think that’s the range we’re in right now.”
He concluded, “I detest to make election predictions. I think there is still a tough, hard part, but I could see him winning by a little bit but if somebody’s going to win this by more than a little bit, it will be the Democrats. I’m just saying. I’m not predicting.”
New polling from the Cook Report shows Harris tied or leading Trump in each swing state except for Nevada.

Which means the Trump camp needs to start running like they’re 10 points behind through the finish line.
