Running for president requires boundless energy, intelligence, and the ability to be able to think on your feet.
These are skills you need when you are faced with tough decisions, meeting with world leaders, and even the media.
But Kamala was just slammed on CNN for needing a babysitter when she agreed to this.
Walz attending the first major interview with Kamala is “weak sauce”
For weeks, the GOP and the nation have been wondering if or when Kamala Harris would ever hold a press conference or participate in a nationally televised interview.
Finally, the presidential candidate agreed to appear on CNN in a pre-taped interview.
However, she won’t be going it alone, as Kamala will have her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, attend the interview with her.
It appears that Kamala needs a babysitter whenever she does press gigs.
After the news broke that Walz would be in attendance, Kamala faced severe backlash.
The biggest backlash came during a discussion on CNN with senior commentator Scott Jennings who is also a former special assistant to President George W. Bush.
He was asked by anchor Anderson Cooper whether scheduling the interview would help to “blunt” attacks from Republicans.
Jennings replied, “I think it’s incredibly weak, weak sauce, to show up with your running mate,” commenting on the now-dubbed “joint interview.”
He also added that the decision demonstrates a “troubling lack of confidence in her political ability.”
“It makes you wonder as a voter, what kind of president would you be if this kind of a small-time decision, can we do an interview or not, what does that look like for your decision-making process, and so on?” he said.
“So yes, I think Republicans are going to think it’s pretty weak to show up effectively with someone who’ll take up half the time,” Jennings concluded.
The blowback goes on
The choice for Kamala to attend the interview with Walz by her side confused many people in the media and stirred up even more criticism online.
On social media platform X, the Trump War Room account wrote, “BREAKING: On Thursday – 39 days since being installed as the Democrat nominee – Kamala will sit for her first formal interview.* ** *Joint, since she’s not competent enough to do it on her own. **Taped, so her handlers have time to play damage control.”
Many people wonder if CNN will edit the interview to remove some of Kamala’s infamous “word salad” moments.
A popular conservative X user named “catturd2” posted, “LOL – Kamala can’t even do an edited softball CNN interview without backup.”
Author and conservative commentator Steve Guest was a bit more blunt, writing, “The entire interview needs to be released – unedited.”
The interview is slated to be conducted by CNN anchor Dana Bash, who many feel is one of the most biased people on the entire network, drawing even more scrutiny.
It’s highly unlikely that CNN will allow any of Kamala’s mistakes, flubs, or confusing statements to air, leaving most Americans in the dark about what she’s really like when the pressure’s on.
