The media are all in on helping Kamala Harris get elected.
Networks are going out of their way to boost the Harris-Walz campaign.
And CNN demanded Tim Walz apologize for one lie that could torpedo Kamala Harris.
Tim Walz’s stolen valor still haunting him
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s service in the Minnesota National Guard was supposed to be an asset for Kamala Harris’ Presidential campaign.
That’s one of the reasons she selected him.
Instead, Walz has been a drag on the ticket for Harris.
In an attempt to push gun control, Walz got caught lying about his military service at an event in 2018.
Walz said, “We can make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is the only place where those weapons are at.”
However, Walz never served in combat during his time in the National Guard.
The Harris-Walz campaign had no choice but to release a statement saying he “misspoke.”
Worse yet, Walz got caught many times saying he was a retired Command Sergeant Major – the highest non-commissioned officer rank – when he left the military as a Master Sergeant.
The campaign stealthily edited his biography on its website.
Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) has been calling out Walz for committing stolen valor by embellishing his military service for political gain.
CNN wants to hear apology from Tim Walz
Walz has no good defense for getting caught fabricating his military service multiple times.
The Democrat-controlled have given up on attempting to spin the scandal and pivoted to urging Walz to apologize in order to make the whole affair go away.
A panel on CNN News Central told Walz that it was time to apologize for the falsehoods about his military service.
CNN political commentator David Urban said, “I want to hear Tim Walz stand up and explain to me why he said for 20 plus years that he was a retired Command Sergeant Major when he wasn’t . . . He owes an apology to, I think, the people in the military . . . Just say, ‘Look, I made a mistake. I shouldn’t have said that. I’m owning up to it.’”
CNN political commentator Van Jones, who briefly served as former President Barack Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar, ” suggested Walz apologize so he could put the scandal behind him.
Jones said, “He has to clean that up. He does. And I think it’s actually on brand for him to say, ‘you know what, I got a little bit full of myself and said some stuff that wasn’t true.’”
Jones believed that an apology from Walz would deflate the scandal.
He continued, “We’re in a business where people think if you’re just honest, we all sometimes posh up a story here and there . . . But now you’re on a main stage and get caught on it. Just cough up the fur ball so we can move on from this issue.”
But stolen valor is a serious violation, especially for a Vice Presidential candidate.
Walz lying about his military service is not just a minor transgression, especially to veterans.
Everyone will not simply forget about it with a boilerplate campaign statement.
This scandal will haunt Walz for the rest of the election.
