Americans have always taken for granted that we have the right to freedom of speech.
But that doesn’t always stop some people in the government from trying to silence differing opinions.
Now a new report was released that exposes the Deep State’s program to kill free speech ahead of the 2020 election.
Active attempts at censorship uncovered
The House Weaponization Subcommittee published a 104-page report detailing how the US federal government worked with big tech and some universities to silence free speech.
It found that the government worked to censor political speech ahead of the 2020 Presidential election.
The report says that the operations of the Election Integrity Partnership (EIP) was created in the summer of 2020 and worked with the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies to not just monitor online political speech, but also to censor viewpoints it found to be unfavorable.
It mentions that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans and lawmakers debated a variety of issues including “mid-election-cycle changes to election procedures.”
According to the report, these issues and other questions and discourse about politics “were extensively discussed on the world’s largest social media platforms—the modern town square.”
However, as Americans and candidates running in the elections tried to exercise their First Amendment rights on these platforms, “their constitutionally protected speech was intentionally suppressed as a consequence of the federal government’s direct coordination with third-party organizations, particularly universities, and social media platforms.”
The report makes it clear that speech concerning elections is “of course entitled to robust First Amendment protections” and that this “bedrock principle is even more crucial as it relates to speech by political candidates.”
It continued, “But as disinformation ‘experts’ acknowledge, the labeling of any kind of speech is ‘inherently political’ and itself a form of ‘censorship.’”
Notably, the report shed light on several prominent conservative individuals and organizations that the EIP worked to monitor and possibly censor.
Examples include Donald Trump, the popular satire website The Babylon Bee, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Newsmax, and many others.
Conservatives targeted
The report found that as a result of the committee’s investigation, “political candidates, journalists, and all Americans have the opportunity to see if they were targeted by their government and what viewpoints DHS, Stanford, and others worked to censor.”
It also stated, “While the EIP disproportionately targeted conservatives, Americans of all political affiliations were victims of censorship.”
Aside from the EIP and DHS, other government agencies and colleges worked together to censor Americans’ speech.
Some of these entities included the Global Engagement Center (GEC) which is part of the State Department, Stanford University, and others.
Internal emails from EIP members were uncovered for the first time, showing that the EIP was created “at the request of DHS/CISA (Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency).”
The EIP targeted everything from jokes and political opinions of Americans across the political spectrum to “true information” and the targets impacted “especially conservatives.”
